Getting Started

The first step to beginning therapy services is to contact your pediatrician or specialist. If necessary, the physician will write a prescription for a therapy evaluation. We then ask that you fill out our New Patient Intake Form prior to scheduling your child's initial evaluation or first appointment. This form will allow us to tailor the evaluation to best suit your child's needs. If you have any questions about the intake process, please contact our Patient Relations Coordinator at 512-306-8007 and select option 2.

The evaluation process typically lasts about 90 minutes and therapy appointments are scheduled every 45 minutes starting at 9:00 am. During the evaluation, one of our licensed therapists will meet with you and your child for a parent interview, standardized assessment, and clinical observations. All of our evaluations and therapy sessions are functional yet play based to help maximize your child's skills and participation in their treatment. The evaluation results will determine if therapy is warranted for your child. Once the assessment is complete, the therapist will make a recommendation for therapy services. You will receive a detailed, written report with assessment scores, treatment recommendations, and goals for therapy if applicable.

If therapy is recommended, our Scheduling Coordinator will work with you to find an appointment time(s) that is best suited for your schedule based on the therapist's recommendations. Because of the busy lives of families today, we offer extended hours during the week.
We are a contracted provider with many commercial and Medicaid/CHIP plans. Please contact our office for the current list. Big Sky Pediatric Therapy is not in-network with the following insurance plans: Medicaid Superior and Aetna
As a consumer, It is extremely important to understand your therapy coverage including deductible amounts, out of pocket maximums, and visit limitations and accumulations. Please be aware that while your insurance company may have benefits for therapy services, many plans have specific restrictions or exclusions that may affect your coverage.

As a courtesy, Big Sky will also verify your benefits prior to your initial evaluation or treatment session. Please remember that verification of benefits is not a guarantee of insurance coverage or payment.
It is your responsibility to update us on any insurance changes. Failure to update us on changes may result in claim denials and unforeseen balances.
Don't forget the following!
  • Your insurance card
  • A copy of the prescription from your child's physician, if applicable

Big Sky Pediatric Therapy will enact a one-time $35.00 account activation and administration fee for all new patients. This fee helps guarantee that we can continue providing the highest level of care to our patients and their families due to significant annual decreases in reimbursement rates paid by insurance and managed care companies to medical practices.
